Initial view: This is the emergency generator for the complex. The 350 kilowatt generator (the ventilated box at right) is driven by a six-cylinder 510-horsepower turbocharged diesel engine. The unit weights 28,000 pounds (12,700 kg) and is suspended from springs. It is capable of running the entire complex and consumes about 25 gallons (95 l) of fuel per hour under a moderate load.

  • The “switchgear” cabinet (with yellow caution sign) monitors commercial power and can start the generator automatically if commercial power is lost of goes out of tolerance
