The recreation room was for the crew’s use during off hours. Favorite pastimes were reading, playing cards, and in later years watching TV while in port, depending upon reception. Books and technical manuals were stowed in the cabinet with the glass front. The ships first aid kit is mounted on the bulkhead to the left of the door. This room marked the limit of the crew’s space on this deck level. Beyond the gray panel door was “officer’s country”.
