The mid section of the engine room is the location the two De Laval two-stage centrifugal pumps (3,000 g.p.m. at 150 p.s.i.) that serve as the primary pumps for Fireboat 4.
Each of these pumps are driven by a 764 h.p., twelve-cylinder Caterpillar 3412CTA diesel turbocharged engine. These pumps provide the primary volume and pressure to the boat's fire mains.
